Dr.Zakkariya K.A is a Professor in Management with more than 22 years of experience in teaching, research, training, administration and institution building. He holds three Masters Degrees : in Psychology, Business Administration ( both from University of Calicut) and Human Resource Management (from University of Kerala). He has taken his Doctoral Degree from Cochin University of Science and Technology. Dr. Zakkariya has served the syndicate of Cochin University of Science and Technology thrice as the nominee of Government of Kerala and he was the youngest ever nominated member in the syndicate in 2003. He has also been elected to the senate of the University five times consecutively from the constituency of University teachers. He has held several notable positions like Director, Aligarh University Centre at Malappuram, Governing Council Member of Kerala State Higher Education Council, Executive Council Member of Aligarh Muslim University UP, General Council Member of Kerala Agricultural University, Director, Students’ Welfare Department, CUSAT, Secretary of Indian Society for Training and Development (ISTD) Cochin Chapter, General Secretary and President of Cochin University Teachers’ Organisation.

He has been a member in the academic bodies of various universities and autonomous colleges inside and outside Kerala. Dr. Zakkariya has been instrumental in initiating Vocational Courses at Masters level for the first time in the state of Kerala by establishing DDU KAUSHAL KENDRA in CUSAT as its founder Director, fetching a UGC grant of Rs. 40 million. By designing and executing two M.Voc programmes during the academic year 2015-16, he turned CUSAT into a pioneering university at national level in the field of vocational education and popularised the same in the state of Kerala. Dr. Zakkariya also initiated the establishment of a specialised centre for training and development of university staff in CUSAT as the founder director of Centre for Employee Empowerment and Skill Acquisition. He has served as Chairman of three Boards of Studies simultaneously in Cochin University. It is because of his initiatives and efforts that CUSAT became part of a one million Euro European Union Project for Capacity Building in Higher Education in the year 2019. It is a prestigious large project with 12 partner institutions from six countries and his efforts to establish a Centre for Teaching Excellence in CUSAT as part of the project is in progress. Prof. Zakkariya has published one book, four edited books, over 70 research articles in journals and books of national and international repute and has won best paper awards in different national and international conferences. He has produced nine PhDs in the areas of Marketing, Human Resource Management and Organisational behaviour. He is a reviewer of half a dozen leading international research journals. He has organised a large number of national and international conferences, workshops and Faculty development Programmes. Dr. Zakkariya is a gifted orator, an outstanding organiser and an inspiring teacher endowed with leadership and institution building skills. He has served in various expert committees of UGC and AICTE.
