About

Holistic development of students requires their participation in community building and to channelise the youthful energy National Service Scheme Unit 11 - CUSAT was inaugurated at DDUKK in 2022. Student volunteers develop a deep sense of social and civic responsibility, practice national integration, social harmony and acquire leadership qualities through participation in NSS activities.


With Ms.Sukrutha A.K , Faculty, DDUKK as the Programme Officer, the unit had 109 Students enrolled as NSS volunteers from B Voc and M Voc courses.NSS Unit 11 marked the beginning of its activities with a Cleaning Drive of the campus area around CIRM building on 30th and 31st of March 2022. One volunteer from Unit 11 could grab an entry for National Integration Camp held at Peerumedu from 15-21 May 2022. Ms. Ambily Rajesh from Bvoc in Business Process and Data Analytics attended 5 days camp and successfully completed it. NSS unit 11 conducted a weeklong ‘Environment Celebrations’ from 3rd June 2022 to 9th June 2022, by planting saplings by volunteers at their homes, cleaning of department premises, distribution of handmade paper bags and setting up of department vegetable garden etc. The objective was to create awareness and responsibility among the volunteers to protect and enrich the natural environment for the benefit of the larger community. As part of The 8th International Day of Yoga (IDY-2022), NSS Unit 11 organized an Online talk session on ' The psychological effects of the pandemic and positive effects of Yoga’: By Dr. Rani Mathews (Consultant Physician and Center Manager at Vivekananda Yoga Global, Trivandrum) followed by a Yoga Practice session. A group of 13 volunteers from NSS Unit 11 actively participated in the Beach cleaning programme organized by Social Forestry Division, Kerala Forest Department,Ernakulam as part of the “ Swatch Sagar, Surakshit Sagar” campaign initiated by Ministry of Earth Science on World Ocean Day – September 17, 2022.
